Independent candidate for Dubbo Mathew Dickerson believes any existing plans for Victoria Street should be fully open and transparent for the public to see.
“A Government department needs to be consultative and open to ideas from the community to achieve the best outcome for the community,” he said.
“The River Street bridge option is still a project that is trying to solve two separate problems with one project – and as such solves neither problem effectively.
“The government needs to look at the problem again and solve both separate problems. One issue is the congestion of local traffic across the LH Ford bridge around peak times. We need one solution for that. Another problem we have is the highway traffic that currently needs to come through the Victoria Street roundabout.
“As a separate problem, a ring road or freight-way for highway traffic needs to be delivered either around Dubbo or upgrade the Narromine option. Both issues need to be looked at with a clean set of eyes – not a Government trying to cover up their broken promise from 2015 of a duplication of the LH Ford bridge.”
