The 603 people who cast their votes in the 2015 state election at Dubbo’s Lourdes Hospital will have to find another place to go on March 23.
The former polling booth is not on a list of “voting centres” for the state electoral district of Dubbo, released by the NSW Electoral Commission.
New legislation has the commission referring to voting centres instead of polling booths and “early voting centres” instead of pre-polling places in the lead-up to the election of the 57th Parliament of NSW.
Dubbo, Wellington, Mudgee, Narromine and smaller surrounding communities make up the electoral district of Dubbo.
About 24 voting centres have been approved for the district where currently 55,901 people are enrolled to vote.
On March 23 there will be more than 2200 voting centres operating across 93 electoral districts for almost 5.3 million electors, reports NSW Electoral Commissioner John Schmidt.
Declared facilities such as nursing homes and hospitals will take the number of NSW venues where votes will be collected to more than 2500.
“Helping deliver democracy through election events requires significant coordination and engineering,” the commissioner said.
The voting centres in the electoral district of Dubbo include 11 in the Dubbo area.
They include Orana Heights Public School, traditionally the busiest polling place in the city of Dubbo, and Eumungerie and Ballimore public schools where the pace is much slower.

Voting centres will operate from 8am to 6pm on March 23.
Early voting centres, yet to be formally identified, will open on March 11.
The commission is currently asking “would you like to earn nearly $400 to help deliver democracy?”
It is seeking election officials for election day.
In the election district of Dubbo, 153 casual positions are up for grabs.
