An officer has sustained serious injuries during a foot pursuit in Wellington.

Officers attached to the Target Action Group, Orana Mid-Western Police District, stopped a vehicle on Maughan Street at approximately 9.55am on Thursday February 7, on suspicion that it contained an individual being sought on arrest warrants.
Once the vehicle was stopped, officers saw a 33-year-old man run from the vehicle and jump a fence into a residential premises nearby.

A 25-year-old constable gave chase and was injured during the pursuit when fell from a backyard fence and suffered a punctured lung and broken ribs.
The officer was treated at the scene before being transported to Dubbo Base Hospital.
He is in a serious, but stable condition.
Police located the man they were pursuing after searching a number of addresses in the Wellington area at about 2.25pm.
The 33 year old was arrested and taken to Wellington Police Station where he was charged with three outstanding arrest warrants, hindering police in the execution of their duty, trespass and possession of drugs and housebreaking implements.
He has been refused bail and is expected to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Friday, February 8.
