At 6.20am, Wednesday February 6, Orana Highway Patrol police officers were conducting stationary speed enforcement on North Street in Dubbo. This area is a 50km/h speed zone.
“Police observed a motorcycle travelling north above the speed limit,” officers said in a statement.
“A check was conducted on radar detecting the motorcycle at 77km/h.
“The cycle, displaying a red p-plate, stopped a short time later.”
NSW Police Traffic and Highway Patrol Command officer then asked the 23-year-old male to produce his licence.
“He was not able to do so, saying ‘I don’t have one’,” officers said.
A check of the system found that the male, once held a NSW learner’s class R licence and that it had expired in June, 2017.
When asked why he was displaying the p-plate, officers will allege the rider stated “to make it look legitimate”.
A check of the vehicle found that the registration plate displayed was for another motorcycle (misleading plate) and the motorcycle’s registration expired back in January 2017.
The rider was issued a number of infringements and walked the cycle home.
