Anyone But Nats co-founder Charles Tym said he hopes to get a good number of people to the Dubbo evening.
“We were pleased with Mudgee turn out; we want these forums to be constructive,” he said.
“Orange has been lost, Barwon is in jeopardy, and I would say Dubbo is in play and we think Dugald has got his work cut out for him.”
Mr Tym said he hopes National Party people that come to the Dubbo forum are better behaved than they were in Mudgee.
“The Nats thought they were going to be a major presence on the night, but they turned out to be a minority,” he said. “Everyone else listened and participated respectfully, but the Nats group went out of their way to be disruptive. We were respectful to all the candidates including Dugald, and it was a credit to him that he turned up and answered questions, but it was embarrassing for them really and a bit lame they way they behaved.
“We’ll still welcome them to the forum, but they’d want to be better behaved.”
“They are a bit out of step with community values, but the great thing about living in Australia is that we can differ on politics and not kill each other.”
Mr Tym said he would be keen to see if Dugald Saunders had changed his opposition to Coal Seam Gas mining.
”One of the interesting things that came out of the Mudgee forum was that Dugald said he was against CSG mining,” Mr Tym said.
“It is National Party policy to support it, so we are pretty cynical about his statement.”
