In his first appearance of the summer last week he helped his side knock off the Sydney Thunder before inspiring the Gades’ win over Perth with a stunning performance on Monday night, backing that up as Melbourne downed the Thunder again on Wednesday.
Against the Scorchers Tremain produced the second most-economical four-over effort in his franchise’s history to finish with 3-9 and star as the Renegades thumped the West Australians by 78 runs, then picked up 1-36 in Wednesday night’s win over the Thunder.
Those two victories combined with last week’s over the electric greens ensure the Renegades’ semi-final berth, and Tremain’s performances will go a long way to cementing his place in Melbourne’s side for the remainder of the tournament.
Tremain’s remarkable individual effort against Perth started with his very first ball when Cameron Bancroft dragged back onto his own stumps, and he dished the same up to Shaun Marsh with the first delivery of his second over.
He then picked up Mitch Marsh in his third set as well, before completing the effort with an economical fourth and final over as the Scorchers meekly surrendered for just 79 in reply to the Renegades’ 5-157.
His lone wicket in Wednesday night’s 27-run victory over the Thunder was an important one too, that of Callum Ferguson.

Ferguson came to the crease at 2-15 and worked his way to 28 in a bid to resurrect the Thunder’s innings, before Tremain lured him into a false shot, Mackenzie Harvey gleefully accepting the catch.
The Sydney side went on to finish with just 113 in reply to the Renegades’ 7-140, a total Cameron Boyce ensured was competitive by piling on an unbeaten, 22-ball 51 after coming to the crease with his side in trouble at 6-77.
With a semi-final spot now locked up the Renegades face Hobart in their final preliminary game on February 7.
