The funding is part of Labor’s $14 billion Fair Go For Schools Plan to invest in public schools.
Labor Candidate for Parkes Jack Ayoub said the funding would give schools the resources they need to help students master the basics such as reading, writing, maths, and science, and offer a broader range of subjects including languages, coding, the arts, and vocational education.
"Our extra investment will transform public schools across our community and give our children the opportunity to reach their full potential, no matter where they live, or how much their parents earn," Mr Ayoub said.
“For example, Dubbo South Public School will receive $910,000 from 2019 to 2021.
“I have worked as an aide in a public high school; I know what this could mean for our young people: more one on one attention, an extra teacher or teacher aide.
“Our nation is only as good as the men and woman it produces; I believe we should educate all our young people to the highest level they can take, regardless of where they may live. This is surely our greatest weapon against poverty.
“It will be up to the Dubbo schools to spend this funding how they choose, governments and oppositions should not be telling them how to use such funding.”
Mr Ayoub said governments have a responsibility to make sure public schools are second to none.
“This election will be a clear choice – a vote for Labor will mean more resources for public schools or more cuts under the Liberal-National Government.”
Member for Parkes Mark Coulton was contacted for comment but politely declined as did the NSW education department.
