A 22-year-old man has allegedly been found with almost a kilogram of the illegal drug cannabis.

The man was stopped by Orana Mid-Western police just after midnight on Sunday, January 27, on the Golden Highway in Dubbo as part of a random breath testing operation.
Sergeant Jill Gibson said while police were conducting the random breath test they noticed a number of signals that caused them to search the vehicle.
“Located in the boot of the car was a 20 centimetre knife and a backpack containing two large cryovac packs of what police allege is cannabis. The total was was 713 grams, including packaging,” Sergeant Gibson said.

The 22-year-old from Merrylands was initially refused bail but was later released on conditional bail from Dubbo Local Court to appear on February 8.
His charges include supply of a prohibited drug indictable quantity, possession of a prohibited drug, deal with proceeds of a crime and goods in custody suspected of being stolen.
During the weekend there was also a search warrant conducted at a Collins Avenue address on Friday, January 25 at 7pm.
Sergeant Gibson said Orana Mid-Western police had received information about a possible drug supply at the location. Police applied for and were granted a search warrant in Dubbo Local Court.
“On attending police spoke to a 28-year-old man who was searched. Police found a number of bags of what is believed to be prohibited drugs and during the search a number of other items relating to possible drug supply were seized,” Sergeant Gibson said.
The 28-year-old man was charged in relation to the possession of drugs and a breach of bail. He was bailed refused at Dubbo Local Court.
Police were very proactive across the long weekend. Orana Mid-Western police undertook 37 person searches, 20 bail checks, six vehicle inspections and Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) checks.
There were three break and enters reported in Dubbo and two steal from motor vehicles at the same locations, as well as two incidents of malicious damage reported.
“It shows that poactivity and a drop in crime work together,” Sergeant Gibson said.
“We had a really good weekend in relation to crime. There wasn't anything major reported in alcohol-related crimes at licensed premises, everyone behaved and had a great long weekend.”
Across NSW, 190,870 breath tests were conducted during the long weekend’s Operation Safe Return and 271 drink-driving charges laid.
Another 4584 speeding infringements were issued.
