The home-style accommodation for western region residents needing the services of Dubbo Hospital opened this week with 14 rooms available.
Mr Crowfoot said Macquarie Home Stay had the room to adapt and to grow beyond its initial plan to accommodate those who are having surgery at the Dubbo hospital.
“One of the great things about this site is that we have more than eight acres, so our master-plan will accommodate more than 100 rooms,” he said.
“So moving forward we may be able to have medical and nursing students stay here and other medical staff that work at the hospital or study at the hospital, those types of medical staff could be accommodated here in the future.
“If there becomes a demand and there is a strong enough business case for us to work with the hospital to do that, then our door is open to having those conversations.
“We are planning for the unexpected, for example from the time of the initial concept to now the cancer centre has become a reality, and we now will accommodate those patients when it opens in 2020/21.”
