Eight competitors from the Dubbo triathlon club competed at the Central West Inter-Club Triathlon Series last weekend.
Kate Brien came first in her age group whilst new member Jacinta New crossed the line third in her age group.
The Bathurst-hosted round had 153 individuals and nine teams taking part in the gruelling event.
Dubbo triathlon club president Jason Dearmer said he was pleased with how New and Brien went at the event despite the heat and the number of competitors.
“Jacinta only started with our club a short time ago so coming third in the 40 to 49 age group is good to see,” he said.
“Kate has been a member of our club for a while and to get a first in her age group is an excellent achievement.”
New said she was happy with her third place considering she had only begun training recently.
“I had been doing a lot of running, and I wanted to diversify my training, so I started swimming and then I did a few events where I just completed the run and the swim sections,” she said.
“I recently bought a bike and started training on that so now I can compete in all three legs.
“I do the short course and that’s the beauty of the triathlons they have distances for everyone at whatever level they are at.”
