The win puts the Colts securely on top of the competition ladder.
Rugby won the toss and batted first and got off to a shaky start after opener Koda Sissian was bowled on four.
But fellow opener Roland O'Connor played a cool hand and top scored with 52, helping his team to 9/156.
Matthew Keenan troubled the Rugby batsmen and ended with 4/26 off seven overs.
The Colts lost its first wicket at 20 but stayed in the chase with Grant Malouf (36), Samuel Bass (30) and Adam McLean (23) all making handy contributions with the bat.
Troy Tracey (2/20) and Josh Connelly (2/39) shone with the ball for Rugby but after Matthew Keenan was run out with the score on 133 the Colts’ lower order showed the necessary composure to hit the winning runs.
