Gavin’s innings included 11 boundaries and three sixes.
CYMS were in the game when they had Macquarie at 4/66 after Jerose Joseph caught Macquarie captain Jeremy Dickson off Quincy Ross’ bowling.
But from that point onward Gavin dominated the bowling and helped his team to its score of 5/201 off 40 overs.
Dickson said Gavin won the game for his team.
“He single-handedly won us the match, and that’s twice in 2019 he has done that for us,” he said.
“The old fella has still got it.
“We were looking a bit shaky when I got out, we did start well, but we lost a few quick, so his innings was timely that’s for sure.”
The Macquarie skipper said Jack Fuller also deserved some credit for his batting.
“We were in trouble but young Jack Fuller deserves a lot of credit, he only got nine runs, but he stayed there with Gavo and played maturely,” he said.
“Quincy Ross bowled beautifully for CYMS, he was too good, we thought 160 would be a good score, but it would not have been enough so getting to 200 was what won us the match.
“In the field, we dropped a few catches, but we composed ourselves in the field in the third session.
“Chad O'Brien bowled full and straight and wrapped things up for us, and the pitch and the ground were in great condition, we’d take that wicket and play on it every week.”
