The talented footballer was the Captain of CYMS Women’s League Tag side from 2016 to 2018 and was also selected as a player in the Group 11 League Tag Side. Grose is also an accredited Touch Football referee.
In December 2018 she was selected in the squad to trial for the Australian Women’s 35’s Touch Football team to play in the World Masters titles in Malaysia in April this year.
Grose said her energy for sport at local, regional, state and national level knows no bounds and she was proud to receive the award.
“I am super stoked, it’s a great achievement and I am proud to be a part of the Australia Day awards,” she said.
“It is great to be recognised for this award and as a woman it's excellent, because woman’s sport is gaining more recognition.
“I am privileged because I grew up playing sport and it has been an awesome part of my life, I’ve made life long friends through sport.”
Grose said participating and coaching sport is a wonderful way to be involved in a community.
“When I first moved to Dubbo I went straight down to the local touch field and asked to join a team and ever since then I’ve just run with it,” she said.
“I am passionate about junior sport, its such a great thing, and in my coaching roles I’ve encouraged people to participate, but it’s also important to me that I keep participating for as long as I can too.”
Dubbo mayor Ben Shields said Grose was an exemplary role model.
Nicole is extremely passionate about the local community and has given her time to make things better for the next generation,” he said.
