Earlier this month CSU announced a major rebrand to celebrate its upcoming 30^th birthday and that a possible name change could occur.

Since then, almost 6000 students, alumni, staff and community members have signed a change.org petition calling on the university to abandon its plans to change the name.

Australian Community Media (ACM) received a phone call from a community member who did not want to be named on Wednesday to say that new Wiradjuri University letterhead was being printed at the university’s own print shop on the Bathurst campus.

On behalf of CSU’s vice chancellor’s office, a spokeswoman denied the claim.

“The claim you have heard from someone who apparently works at CSU Print, that the CSU printery is printing new CSU letterheads with the name Wiradjuri University on them is factually incorrect and untrue,” she said.

“This is not happening. I have confirmed it with the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.”

CSU deputy vice chancellor Jenny Roberts told ACM earlier this month that CSU staff welcomed discussions on a potential new name and university rebrand as it showed how passionate people were about CSU.

“We knew that it would get a lot of feedback because we knew people loved this university,” she said.

“It’s very emotive and we understand that, but look at the bigger picture, the strategy.”

Ms Roberts said CSU was working on refreshing its brand to ensure it was just as relevant into the future for students, staff and members of the public as it is now.

The university celebrates its 30^th anniversary in July, with any name change to be announced by the end of February.

Puublic consultation sessions begin in Bathurst on Thursday afternoon to allow the community to have its say on the university’s rebrand and potential name change.
