He said the grant would allow for the development of the southern portion of the existing wetlands reserve which would “benefit the expansion of the three existing ponds to serve as a larger capacity storm water drainage facility”.
“We’ll be looking at this wetlands project to be complemented by surrounding revegetated grassland and increased space for the enjoyment of patrons,” Mr Grant said.
“In time it is hoped there will be viewing platforms, gravel pathways and development of amenities such as picnic areas, shelters and tables.”

The grant, from round two of the Regional Growth Environment and Tourism Fund, was presented to Narromine Shire Council mayor Craig Davies on Wednesday morning by Mr Grant and Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro.
Mr Barilaro said the Narromine Wetlands project was one of 14 new projects to have received a share of the $50 million available for infrastructure projects which drew tourists from outside the region or encouraged them to stay longer and spend more.
“These are the signature projects that help to boost tourism visitation, with countless flow-on benefits such as creating jobs for locals, from dive instructors to chefs and vine-growers to event managers,” he said.
