Staff of headspace Dubbo want to help.
They are running early-intervention workshops and groups in a bid to help young people develop lifelong skills and coping mechanisms.
The workshops focus on mindfulness, anger and stress management, and techniques to address early signs of anxiety and depression.
“Returning to school, and particularly starting school, can be especially hard for some young people as they are faced with the pressure of school work, extra-curricular demands, grades, friendships and social issues like bullying and peer pressure,” community engagement officer at headspace Dubbo Amy Mines said.
“Our groups are a fantastic way to meet other like-minded young people and share your experiences.
“The stress of high school is extremely common, so it’s always great to chat with others about how they’re tackling pressure.”
The headspace Dubbo centre hosts social groups for LGBTIQA+ young people, gaming groups and more, through consultation with its youth reference group
“The young people who make up our youth reference group help us to understand the pressures young people face, so we are able to tailor our programs to address the needs of the community,” Ms Mines said.
