Former Dubbo junior Henry Railz has made a strong start to his first grade career, helping Penrith to an outright win over Northern District.

In his debut game, Railz saw off Northern District captain Ben Davis (11 from 25 balls) and managed two maidens to finish with figures of 1-15 from five overs.
Penrith bowled tightly, sacrificing not a single sundry.
He went on to hit 10 from 16 balls as Penrith easily went passed Northern’s meagre 60-run total; the mountain men piled on 153 and sent their rivals back in.
Railz was again impressive with ball in hand, finishing with figures of 0-13 from six overs including two maidens.

There was a distinctly western flavour at Howell Oval, as Railz debuted just a stone’s throw from where the Western Rams 16 and 18 sides trained ahead of their trial against the Central Coast Roosters.
“I actually went over there … and I thought ‘that looks like Henry Railz’,” Dubbo-based Rams coach Andy Haycock.
“It was a nice touch to see a St John’s College junior making his first grade debut.”
He’s not the first St John’s College graduate to head to Penrith.
“Dave Taylor, who was at St John’s College maybe 15 years ago, made something like 6000 runs for Penrith … so there’s a connection there,” Haycock said.
“One thing I’ve noticed about the Penrith Cricket Club and the football club is they’re both full of quality people from western NSW.”
