National Corrections Day was marked in the Dubbo electorate yesterday, celebrating the 9,000 correctional staff in NSW - and the 25,000 frontline officers across Australia – who are working with offenders and keeping the community safe.

Member for Dubbo Troy Grant said the day is a good opportunity to thank the region’s correctional staff, who play a crucial role in keeping the community safe at Community Corrections offices, as well as Macquarie and Wellington correctional centres.
“Corrections officers are our family members, friends and neighbours, and they go to work every day to not only do an important and difficult job,” Mr Grant said.
“These officers show bravery, dedication and commitment that should be formally commended because they are the unsung heroes of our communities, working tirelessly to rehabilitate offenders and keep us safe.”
Corrective Services NSW employs 9,000 staff across the state, including custodial officers, security and intelligence officers, industry overseers, inmate services and programs staff, psychologists and Community Corrections officers.
