Long-time partners, Kris Stevens and Bizzi Mason, were married at Dubbo Courthouse on January 15 last year, their union made possible by the Federal Parliament voting in favour of same-sex marriage.
On Tuesday the lovebirds celebrated their first anniversary at a “beautiful” dinner for two at Veldt Restaurant, where they went after exchanging vows.
Ms Stevens said the couple was enjoying getting used to referring to each other as “my wife” and grateful for continuing support from Dubbo residents, some of them strangers.

“I was really surprised..that even people I didn’t know would come up to me and offer congratulations,” she said.
“To this day people still say how happy they are for us.”
Ms Stevens noted the “sky hasn’t fallen in” since she and Ms Mason married.
“Nothing has changed, everyone else has gone about their business but we now have equality and a legally-recognised commitment to each other,” she said.
