With temperatures set to be in the mid-40s this week the Cancer Council of Australia is reminding Dubbo residents to liberally apply sunscreen if you plan on being in the sun.
The Slip! Slop! Slap! Seek! and Slide! message has never been more relevant according to the SunSmart website.
A statement on the website asks people to protect themselves in five ways from skin cancer.
- Slip on sun protective clothing that covers as much of your body as possible.
- Slop on SPF 30 or higher broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen, at least 20 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply every two hours when outdoors or more often if perspiring or swimming.
- Slap on a broad-brimmed hat that shades your face, neck and ears.
- Seek shade.
- Slide on sunglasses.
The Bureau of Meteorology says Dubbo is heading for heatwave conditions this week with Tuesday peaking at 41, Wednesday 44, Thursday and Friday 45 and Saturday 41.
