The fields for the annual festive period meeting at Wellington Jockey Club were released on Friday, with a massive crowd expected to be trackside for the five-race card.
Alexandra Demure, now under the care of Justin Stanley, will contest the Maiden Plate (900m) at the non-TAB meeting.
The now five-year-old has never seen her deliver on the promise shown when scoring successive maiden placings early in her career in Victoria.
After her time south of the border she raced for Cameron Crockett but after back-to-back placings to start her time with the Mudgee trainer she tailed off and failed to place in a further seven events.
She was then shipped off to Stanley and has run eighth and fourth in two starts for the now Narromine trainer.
The fourth was at Warren last time out, that result coming first-up after a lengthy 18-week spell.
She ran home well to finish just outside the placings that day while in her last start for Crockett she also powered home from last to finish in sixth spot.
With a smaller field to contest with on Wednesday, the mare looks primed to surge and finally break through for a victory.
Adrian Robinson will take the ride on the expected favourite, but there are a number of other contenders.
Hometown hope Mochine Gun is having his first start since late July for trainer Garry McCarney and shapes as a chance while there is likely to be interest around first starter Saahirah, from the Orange stables of Alison Smith.
Saahirah ran third to Dictation in her lone trial, the Kathryn Cahill-trained mare having won at Dubbo and placed at Wagga last preparation.
Smith knows Saahirah well, having trained her half-brothers Absolute Ripper and Missy Rhythmos.
Those two have gone on to achieve success and Ashleigh Stanley’s three kilogram claim is likely to make Saahirah an attractive proposition at Wellington.
Mt Isa based trainer Kim McGovern will again make a trip to the western area with Dollar Dandy also to contest the sprint. The gelding is having his first start since March 31.
As well as Alexandra Demure, Stanley will also have Gillie Mooch and Incision in action at Wellington.
The pair will both contest the Benchmark 58 Handicap (900m). Gillie Mooch is first up, having not raced since June.
Gates will open from 11am on Boxing Day at the Wellington track with the first of the five races on the day to jump at 2.08pm.
The final event is scheduled to jump at 4.38pm.
