The Rotary Club of Dubbo West’s major fundraiser is reported by it to be “marvellously supported by the people”.
“We don’t even have to sell the tickets,” 2008 raffle coordinator and club member Lance Murphy said.
“We just sit there and people come over and say ‘I’ll have $20 worth’, knowing we will sell about 20,000 tickets and there is not a big chance of them winning.”

In 2018 an estimated 19,650 tickets were sold with Narromine’s Alan Milnes winning a trailer filled with more than $6000 worth of equipment and appliances including a television, car fridge and barbecue.
A $1000 travel voucher went to Jessie Lamisere from the ACT.
Mr Murphy said the raffle netted the club about $40,000 but expenses were still to be covered.
“The proceeds will be allocated to good causes and charities at the end of the Rotary year,” he said.
