The DBS staff originally developed and wrote ‘The Queen of Hearts’ as a prologue for ‘Alice in Wonderland. Students worked hard for nine weeks to portray the reasons why the Queen of Hearts is so cruel.
Alongside the fun and stylised dancing, crowds were entertained with upbeat music and multimedia displays. The costuming, designed by Lyndal Dess, paraded black, red and sequins.
Principal Anna Bloomfield said ‘The Queen of Hearts’ was the “most challenging, professional and game changing production DBS has ever produced.”
Founded in 1934 by the late Bettina Joyce Schneider, DBS is Australia’s oldest and longest running dance studio. With a strong log of successes, ‘The Queen of Hearts’ adds itself to the list.
In 2018 the studios began offering Certificates III and IV in Dance.
Student enrolments for 2019 are now open.
