Organiser Peter Judd said 6500 attended last year’s event and he expected similar numbers this year.
“There are more and more visitors from out of town coming,” he said. “More than half the people who attended last year weren’t from Dubbo.”
When asked why he thinks the Dubbo New Years Eve Fireworks Party attracts thousands of visitors from across the region, Mr Judd said “because we have the best fireworks in the central west.”
The event has grown from strength to strength each year and Mr Judd believes that is due to it being so family oriented.
“With got lots and lots of activities going on.. it’s a really fun, family event,” he said. “The build up to it is really good.”

Mr Judd praised the hundreds of volunteers who help with traffic control, to manning the gate and cleaning up the site after the party has finished.
“Last year we had over 124 volunteers on the night helping us out. That is a massive amount of volunteer effort,” he said.
The fireworks will commence 9pm, at Apex Oval.
If people wan’t to bring their own food, then that is fine. Mr Judd encourages everyone to bring a picnic rug and chair.
