Around 11.52am on Thursday, Orana Highway Patrol officers were conducting stationary speed enforcement near Hickeys Falls on the Newell Highway, south of Coonabarabran as part of their National Route 39 taskings.
The area is a sign posted 100km/h area and heavy vehicles are limited to 100km/h.
“Police observed a B-double combination travelling well above the speed limit as it travelled south and away from police,” officers stated.
“Police conducted a check on Lidar and as the heavy vehicle was climbing up the hill it was checked at 125km/h.
“Police caught up to the vehicle and stopped it, the male driver from Victoria was spoken to, he stated ‘I was coming off the hill’.
Officers then escorted the vehicle to a truck stop near the Gilgandra township.
“It was here the driver was issued a defect notice for non compliant speed limiter, furthermore he was issued the above infringement notices,” police officers said.
“The vehicle was grounded pending a electronic control module (ECM) download.”
