While Dr Rigg-Smith had danced when he was younger, Ms Rigg-Smith only took up the sport three years ago. At their first DanceSport Championships in 2017 they were awarded third.
This time, the duo were named as the Australian Champions in the Masters 3 C Grade New Vogue and Runners up in the Masters 3 C Grade Standard.
Fantasy Dubbo DanceSport owner Cassandra Donnelly said it was a huge accomplishment for the Rigg-Smiths.
“They represented not only our studio, Fantasy Dubbo DanceSport, but also NSW beautifully,” Ms Donnelly said.
“It is a massive thing to win at this Championship. All of their hard work and dedication has paid off.”

Dr Rigg-Smith said they spent between six to 10 hours per week training and had entered more than 30 competitions.
“You enjoy the music, you enjoy moving to music, you enjoy acquiring new steps, new competitions. And it’s also a sport. You expel a lot of energy,” Dr Rigg-Smith said.
It was also a chance to get dressed up, Dr Rigg-Smith said, with him in his tails and his wife in her beautiful gowns.
