“Customers are invited to round up to the nearest dollar, or make a donation they are comfortable with when they come to the check out at BCF, with funds going to help OzFish groups like Inland Waterways to make rivers healthier, and fishing better “ BCF Dubbo store manager Shane Glynn told Dubbo Catches. 

“ The purchase could be fishing gear, camping equipment or boating gear, with every cent generated through the Round It Up campaign going to bettering our waterways” he said.

The Inland Waterways OzFish chapter has not only restocked hundreds of thousands of fingerlings in their early years, but has since moved on to rebuilding local river habitat, with over 200 large snags strategically placed to help native fish breed, and a further 100 snags about to be installed in 2019.  

The group has also conducted many education initiatives such as the Murray Cod breeding awareness campaign entitled “When they’re on the nest, give them a rest “. They have also run the Work for the Dole River Repair Bus for two years which has planted and maintained 7,000 trees and removed over 150 trailer loads of rubbish from the river banks. 18 participants have also moved from this program into regular employment, with the social benefits very heart-warming for the project coordinator’s and volunteer committee.

“If everyone in Dubbo just gave a few dollars when they Round it Up at BCF, that will allow us to do even more work to improve the Macquarie River “ Inland Waterways committee man and River Repair Bus coordinator David Harris said.
