Yummy Yarn and co has been recognised for its use of social media to “build community and to thrive”.
It was one of 30 regional businesses from across Australia chosen to feature in Facebook’s first-ever ‘Annual Gift Guide’.
Yummy Yarn owner Robyn Hicks felt “absolutely privileged and humbled” to be selected.
She travelled to Canberra to meet other business owners and attend workshops with members of the Facebook team.
Back at her one-woman store from where she connects with creatives who share her enthusiasm for craft and Australian-made, the proprietor said it had been a valuable experience.
“I think we all probably need a little motivation to keep on plugging away,” Mrs Hicks said.
With small business a tough gig, Mrs Hicks appealed to consumers to consider the impact of their Christmas purchases.
“Yes, shop small and shop local,” she said.
