Police allege the vehicle was stolen in Coonamble the week before the crash, in which the 18-year-old driver died at the scene.
The 16-year-old sitting in the front passenger seat suffered critical head injuries and was taken to Westmead Hospital where he later died on December 7.
Orana Mid-Western Police District Inspector Paul Stephens said they were still investigating the cause of the crash but police believed alcohol and speed could have been factors.
Inspector Keith Ridley said the crash occurred about 6.30am on December 2 when the car, carrying six teenagers was travelling on the Castlereagh Highway at Gulargambone about 25 kilometres north of Gilgandra.
Orana Mid-Western Police District police officers, paramedics and the rural fire service attended the scene of the crash.
“The vehicle left the side of the road, hit some gravel and has commenced to roll and it has rolled several times and came to a standstill on the side of the road,” Inspector Ridley said.
“Unfortunately the male driver, an 18-year-old from Coonamble was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries.”
“There were four male youth in the vehicle at 17, 16, 14, and 13 years of age and they were in the rear passenger seat,” Inspector Ridley said.
They were taken to Dubbo and Gilgandra hospitals with non life-threatening injuries.
Orana Mid-Western Police District officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and appealed anyone with information or witnesses to come forward.
Inspector Stephens said the focus of inquiries were into the cause of the crash and the death of the teenagers while police were also investigating the theft of the vehicle.
He said police would prepare a report for the Coroner.
Police asked anyone with information to call Dubbo Police Station on 6883 1599 or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
