The invitation acknowledges the important part youth play in shaping the headspace Dubbo message and services.
Currently, headspace Dubbo is calling for young people aged 12 to 25 years with an interest in youth issues to apply to join the volunteer group.
“This year, two of our youth reference group members were invited to meet the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with the centre’s program manager,” Headspace Dubbo’s community and youth engagement coordinator Amy Mines said.
“Of course, this opportunity isn’t a daily occurrence, however it does show how much youth voices are valued by not only headspace Dubbo, but by people who can bring about real change to the ways we approach mental illness.”
An unnamed member of the 2018 group reports of the benefits to her of being part of it.
“This year I’ve graduated high school, achieved early acceptance into university, met the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, received a Dubbo Day Award and accepted employment at a local law firm,” she said.
“However, the ability to strengthen my morals, values and perspectives and grow as a young, empowered woman in the supportive environment of headspace is perhaps the greatest achievement or accolade I will ever receive.”
To lodge an application call Ms Mines on 02 5852 1900 or drop into the centre at 23 Church Street.
