Central North Police District officers from Walgett arrested two male teenagers, aged 16 and 19, following the attack on Sunday, December 2.
“It will be alleged that the 19-year-old male in company of the 16-year-young person assaulted the 27-year-old male while both were armed with a samurai sword and a golf club respectively,” officers said.
“The samurai sword was allegedly used to cause a deep cut to the webbing between the thumb and the fingers of the victim’s hand which required hospital treatment.”
Detectives have charged both males with reckless wounding in company and both were refused bail by police.
“The 19-year-old male was further bail refused by the registrar at Walgett Local Court,” police officers said.
“The 16-year-old young person was released on strict conditional bail.”
