Stone’s big-hitting innings, along with those of Don Skinner and Kevin Newboud gave Souths a massive 265 to chase.
The best with the ball for Souths was Scott Dwarte who took 4/29 off 8 overs and John Byrne who took 5/51 off 7.5.
Newtown Black was as impressive with the ball as they were the bat and bowled out Souths for 75 with only Greg Taylor (25) showing any resistance.
Malachi Dutschke proved to be the most difficult Newtown bowler to score against finishing with 6/15 off 6.4 overs.
In other Kelly Cup matches, Rugby Red 6/209 defeated Macquarie 6/208 in the last over. A patient 93 from Macquarie’s Dave Murray was a match highlight. Dale Smith’s 63 not out and and Luke Connolly’s 50 steered Rugby to its thrilling victory. Rugby’s Kieran Rosenbaum took of 3/19 off 5 overs, while Greta Scullard took 3/39 off her 6 overs for Macquarie.
RSL Colts United 6/99 defeated RSL Colts Paramount 98. Chris Semmler (22) and Kyle Myers (28) were the best with the bat for United. Ben Dunlop (37) and Nathan Towart (20) batted well for Paramount.
Newtown Gold 3/117 defeated Rugby Blue 116. A 70 not out from J Edwards and 30 from fellow opener C Collins secured the victory for Newtown.
CYMS Green 2/163 defeated CYMS White 161. Zac Williams (64) and Jed Mcintosh (72) were the best batsmen for CYMS Green.
