St Mary’s Primary school is an integral part of St Brigid’s Parish. Catholic values and traditions are a guide for all that we do throughout the school. Our primary focus is student learning and I thank all of our staff for their ongoing commitment to providing a quality education that allows the children in our care to achieve high levels of learning.

We have strived to work together with our families so the parish, along with the school, work together to provide the best education possible. This is evident in the family involvement in the St Brigid’s Parish Sacramental Program. We have gathered as a faith community throughout the year to celebrate our Opening School Mass, Ash Wednesday, Grandparents Day, NAIDOC and other significant events.
Our strong community identity was reflected through the generous support we received throughout the year at community events such as Grandparent’s Day, Mother’s Day Lunch, Father’s Day Breakfast, our annual Fun Fair and at sporting events. We feel it is our privilege to work with our families and share the responsibility of helping our children prepare for the future.
We recognise that each child is unique and has a right to develop their individual talents. We strive to develop the full potential of each child spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally and physically. This is reflected in some of the outstanding achievements of St Mary’s individuals and teams throughout the year.
Our school chess team won the Western Area Tournament for the second year in a row, finishing in the top ten in the state, and our School Strings Ensemble won their section at the Dubbo Eisteddfod. Alex McGrath won swimming medals at Polding in multi-class events, while Molly Croft was a member of the Polding Girls Basketball team who were NSW PSSA Champions for 2018.

Our talented maths students participated in the Maths Olympiad competition, with six students receiving awards for finishing in the top 20 per cent of all participants, including Lachlan Reynolds finished in the top 2 per cent of all NSW students. Our Rugby League teams won both the Russell Richardson and Peachey Cup Regional Finals, our Under 11’s team won the All Schools NSW Finals in Sydney and our Under 12’s team won the NSW and Independent Schools titles, resulting in both teams being recognised at the 2018 Dubbo Regional Sports Awards.
Our teaching staff has continued to focus on collaboration and effective formative assessment strategies throughout the year. We use this data to improve individual teaching practice and positively impact on student learning. This approach has seen outstanding improvements in student learning and we look forward to continuing to work together as a learning community as we strive for high levels of learning for all of our students.
