The Dubbo Filmmakers will hold workshops throughout December and January, where participants will learn how to direct actors, prepare for a shot, how to make a feature film and how to edit film.
Established in early 2013, Dubbo Filmmakers Group is an informal collective of people from Dubbo and surrounds who have an interest in the production of film, in particular locally-made film.
The group consists of 150 online members, with up 15 members at any one monthly meeting.

Dubbo Filmmaker member and workshop coordinator Kellie Jennar said these workshops are important so regional filmmakers have the ability to gain and maintain the same skill sets as their big city counterparts.
"This enables local businesses to hire local filmmakers and content creators for their professional requirements without needing to outsource,” Ms Jennar said.
“By bringing industry professionals to Dubbo to run these workshops, we are removing the geographical and financial barriers regional practitioners often face when trying to access training.”
I love making, watching and advocating for stories told on screen.
- Kellie Jennar
Ms Jennar loves film and television as a medium for storytelling.
“Stories told on the screen have the ability to create a such a strong emotional reaction in audiences which can range from joy to sadness to horror,” she said.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
“Something very special happens when a group of people watch film or television together - they share this emotional experience together.
“This in turns, creates an opportunity to think, discuss and debate often difficult topics. That is why I love making, watching and advocating for stories told on screen.”
