The awards, given out to members of the community who volunteer their time to help enrich the lives of others, are a testament to the wonderful people we have living in Dubbo.
The prestigious Dubbo Day Tony McGrane Award was this year received by Look Good Feel Better coordinator Chistine Horder, who shares her time and skills to give cancer patients a lift.
Those who also received awards came from all walks of life, with presentations going to those who dedicate their free time to events such as the DREAM Festival, the Youth Council, to growing the Dubbo Rhinos Rugby Union Club and for their work in mental health, heart safety and parkrun.
It’s humbling to see the vast range of people receiving the awards each year, and shows us what a wonderful city we live in.
One this that was well noticed when looking at this year’s winners, was each and every one of them volunteers with multiple groups and has done over the years, dedicating more and more of their free time to causes close to their hearts that ultimately help make Dubbo a better place to live.
To all the volunteers that were honoured, and all those who couldn’t be recognised on stage this year, we say, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
That’s all from me this week.
