Central West Trans and Gender Diverse Network, Sydney Gender centre and local police commemorated the transgender community and remembered those who have suffered at the Rotunda.
Event organiser Marty Howe said he was impressed with the event’s outcome.
“Anything is good as a start point, hopefully things grow over the years but i’m impressed with this year’s event and everything so far,” he said.
Sydney Gender Centre senior case manager Liz Ceissman said Dubbo was “leading the way” with the event a first for regional NSW.
“Dubbo has been working in partnership with the trans community to create a safe and inclusive space,” she said.
Orana Mid-Western Police District Gay and Lesbian Liaison Officer Senior Constable Kelly Anscombe said the police attendance demonstrated their support for the transgender community.
“We support the transgender community and we want to ensure their safety here and we’re open to taking their reports,” Sen. Constable Anscombe said.
“We’re trying to be as highly visible as we can, as people walk past they obviously see us and see what we’re representing and our acceptance.”
