Organisers reported more than 600 cars came through the gates of Dubbo’s Westview Drive-In across three sessions at the weekend.
Young adults and families alike were among those taking the chance to experience the iconic outdoor cinema experience, they said.
Penny and Mick Browning relived the adventures of Smokey and the Bandit at the Saturday night screening.
It was a trip that’s becoming a new tradition - the family attended the April 2017 one-weekend opening of the drive-in, and were back in October as well.
“Mick’s mum used to work there [before it closed in the 1980s],” Mrs Browning said.
“It’s so interesting to see the recreation, it’s pretty exciting.
“Our kids love it, they’ve never been to anything like it.”

The movies on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights were the first since organisers announced they would open one weekend a month.
On Monday a spokesperson said feedback had been “overwhelmingly positive with people looking forward to future events”.
Some people had come to more than one session, and there were even some patrons who had been to every movie evening since the drive-in reopened, the spokesperson reported.
“It was an amazing weekend, great energy with everyone that came along,” the spokesperson said.
December’s offering is set to be Christmas movies to match the season.
Organisers are also looking to put on an Elvis film on the weekend of “the King’s” birthday in January.
A “big thank you” was issued to the volunteers for their support - at least 10 volunteers each night helped with a variety of tasks, an opportunity for them to learn new skills.
“Their energy and enthusiasm, it adds to the atmosphere,” the spokesperson said.
Organisers said they were working hard to improve the site and that patrons should be able to notice improvements each time.
