Money raised by the Can Assist Dubbo branch helps cancer patients in need with their accommodation and medical costs. Money raised from their Dubbo charity events helps those in the Dubbo region.
Can Assist Dubbo secretary Fitz McKay said since the branch started 10 years ago they had helped hundreds of people who had been referred to them from oncologists.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
The organisation was made up of dedicated volunteers, Ms McKay said, most of whom had been touched by cancer in one way or another.
Between $50,000 to $60,000 is needed to be raised by Can Assist each year so it can continue to help cancer patients.
The next fundraising day for Can Assist will be the Autumn Garden Open Day in April.
The organisation meets on the second Wednesday of every month at the Macquarie Club from 6pm. Ms McKay said new members were always welcome.
