Dubbo Regional Council was the first of the seven Evocity councils to commit to extending the campaign until 2023. Tamworth Regional Council has also pledged the funding, while Albury, Armidale, Bathurst, Orange and Wagga Wagga have until June 30, 2019 before the current Memorandum of Understanding expires.
The Evocities campaign uses combined funding from the participating councils to promote the regional lifestyle to areas such as Sydney and Canberra.

“Support from Dubbo Regional Council will allow Evocities to continue to actively promote regional city living and provide support for people relocating to an Evocity,” Cr Mack said.
“With a state and federal election looming in 2019, Evocities will play a key role in campaigning for innovative regional policy development, particularly in the areas of population growth, regional relocation schemes and incentives to recruit, train and retain skilled workers in regional cities.”
Cr Mack, who is also the Albury mayor, said there was no doubt Dubbo with its world-class facilities and community culture had been critical to the program’s success.
“The wider Dubbo community is to be congratulated for creating a dynamic regional city that is well equipped for growth.

“The wider Dubbo community is to be congratulated for creating a dynamic regional city that is well equipped for growth. From the food scene to transport links and fabulous facilities, I’m not surprised city slickers want to know more about the Dubbo lifestyle.”
Orange City Council has yet to vote on Evocities but councillor Jeff Whitton has expressed doubts about the campaign.
“In the original 10 years I was very supportive of it. Then I was vocally against it because I couldn’t see any value in it,” he said.
However, Cr Whitton said Evocities had since had a new chairman and been reinvigorated.
