Then visit www.wiftaustralia.org.au/raisingfilmsau and apply to be part of a pilot program that aims to help Dubbo and district mothers and female carers “reconnect” with their screen industry careers.
Women In Film & Television (WIFT) NSW is bringing Raising Films Australia’s Making It Possible to Western Plains Cultural Centre on May 24 next year.
A free and one-day course will be delivered in partnership with Screenworks and Creative Plus Business, through funding from Women NSW and Create NSW.
WIFT president Megan Riakos said the pilot program was specifically designed to address the needs of women who “feel stuck and unable to move forward towards their goals”.
“We know there are many creative women living in regional areas who face the added barrier of distance and limited access to peer networking,” she said.
Dubbo Filmmakers Group coordinator Kellie Jennar has welcomed the course.
“There is a real appetite locally to grow our industry,” she said.
The course will offer “personal, career and creative advice, mentorship and education” while providing access to a free creche.
Regional participants can seek funding to cover some of their travel costs. Applications close on December 23.
