Lake made an unbeaten 102 as Newtown White amassed 6-220 against CYMS White at Lady Cutler South 2.
But a terrific Dean Matthews century saw the Cougars get home with nine balls to spare.
RELATED:
Matthews belted 124 not out in the win while Shawn Townsend chipped in with a vital 31 not out late on.
John Hausia took a valiant 4-15 from eight overs for the White Tigers.
Tyson Deebank only need four overs to inspire RSL-Colts Coolbaggies’ win over Rugby Red.
With his side bowling first, Deebank was the eighth bowler used but took his chance and ripped through the Red lineup on his way to taking 5-12.
That saw Rugby Red dismissed for 115 and the Colts side reached the target with five wickets in hand.
Ryan Harris top-scored with 34 in the chase.
A young South Dubbo Lemons side proved no match for a Cameron Collins-inspired Newtown Gold in an incredibly lopsided contest at John McGrath 1.
In a match which remained in good spirits throughout, Newtown Gold made 8-194 from its 40 overs with Collins’ patient and unbeaten 102 a clear highlight.
Sam Green (4-4) and Alex Sambrook (3-6) then destroyed the Lemons lineup. The Souths side was then bowled out for a paltry 36 in the 158-run loss.
It could have been even worse as the Lemons were 8-9 at one stage.
Dane McCullagh bagged a brilliant 5-14 from eight overs during RSL-Colts Paramount’s three-wicket win over Macquarie.
McCullagh knocked over the Blues middle order and only Dave Murray’s tough 68 helped his Macquarie side post 152.
The run chase was anything but simple as wickets fell regularly early.
Dane Cooper belted 63 to get his side right on track before youngster Cooper Giddings (24 not out) guided his side to the target.
Fred Walford and Pete Corcoran combined to lead Souths Limes to victory over RSL-Colts United.
Walford bagged 4-30 as his side kept United to 8-178 from its 40 overs.
Opening bat Preston Beauchamp was the best for United, making 58 at the top of the order while Irfan Sagri made 32.
Corcoran went one better though, the Limes opening batsman set the tone in the run chase and made a match-deciding 78.
His side reached the target with 17 balls to spare.
The final match of the round saw Rugby Blue defeat CYMS Green.
Bryce O’Mally (50) and Dale Watmore (44) guided Rugby Blue to a total of 9-168 from 40 overs.
Mat Sharp took 3-36 for CYMS Green with the ball, but his side struggled early with the bat.
Riley Chaseling (3-18) reduced the Cougars to 5-47 and they never recovered, being dismissed for 103.
Sharp made 34 in the run chase.
