Hundreds of handmade poppies crafted by Dubbo residents will join in the thousands on display at the Australian War Memorial.

The poppies were started by Lynn Berry and Margaret Knight. They planned to crochet 120 poppies to plant at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne for Remembrance Day 2013 to honour their fathers.
The idea quickly grew and thousands of poppies were sent in from across Australia and the world. Dubbo residents also embraced the trend, knitting and sewing the red flowers to decorate the Victoria Park cenotaph.
Now, 62,000 poppies have been used in a display at the Australian War Memorial to represent those lost in World War One. Ms Berry said there were also another two poppy installations at Parliament House and one in Ainslie Place.
