The program support and events coordinator at the Dubbo office of GP Synergy was among five women honoured for their work at a presentation night in the city.
The event doubled as a “seasonal celebration” for GP Synergy, a regional training organisation funded by the federal government to deliver vocational general practice (GP) training to doctors.
GP Synergy chief executive officer John Oldfield said GP registrars relied heavily on GPs and accredited general practices in understanding and meeting the needs of local communities.
“With 110 accredited training facilities across Western NSW, training 130 registrars, the GP training network ...deserves recognition,” he said.
Sue Towney, of the Swift Street Medical Centre in Wellington, was named Western NSW Practice Manager of the Year during the presentations.
Dr Jodie Wheatley, currently training in Molong and Yeoval, was named Western NSW Registrar of the Year.
The Dr Jeremy Bunker Outstanding Achievement Award NSW/ACT went to Cowra’s Dr Teena Downton.
Coonamble’s Dr Angela Yates took out the Western NSW Supervisor of the Year award.
