Council is in the process of reviewing the Dubbo CBD Precincts Plan, which included the 50 Bright Ideas developed in consultation with the community.

As well as ensuring the CBD continues to be a standout in Western NSW, the review has also be designed to examine the four mixed use commercial and residential developments in the CBD that are currently under council consideration.

A Wellington Town Centre Plan will also be developed to boost the town’s CBD and ensure it’s strong and prosperous.

As well as getting local stakeholders involved, like business owners, the plan will work with the NSW government and Roads and Maritime Services with a plan to “deliver projects residents can be proud of”.

In a report on the plan, council’s manager strategic planning services Steven Jennings said the Wellington Town Centre Plan would address the constraints or the barriers involved in the initiative, while also highlighting the opportunities.

“The integral components in the success of any plan for the Wellington CBD is stakeholder and community consultation, an understanding of the infrastructure and other requirements of the precinct and ensure trends from other similar sized towns are known and could be replicated in Wellington,” Mr Jennings said.

Council will apply for a grant to the Building Better Regions Fund for the Wellington CBD plan.

Council’s Ignite Program has also been recognised on the national stage as a winner at the Economic Development Australia Awards. The program won for Economic Development Initiatives – over 15,000 residents.

Council’s Regional Platters Program has won the Economic Development Initiatives – rural and remote areas.
