Polly Hubbard, 6, Lucy Taylor, 7, Matilda Keller, 9, Haylie Cattell, 9, Giaan Cubby, 12, and Lauren Blunt, 12, will compete for the title of Australian champion in their respective age groups at Homebush on November 25.
Orana had 37 members compete on the day, and for many the zone championship was their first experience of competing.
The club also entered two teams, with the 5-6 years claiming third place and the 9-10 years team earning fourth place.
“We are absolutely thrilled with everyone’s performances and results,” teacher Kristy Hubbard said.
“Each girl and lady danced beautiful and performed to their very best.
“Their sportsmanship, comradery and performance on the competition floor is to be commended.”

In addition to the juniors’ results, teacher Rhiannon Malouf performed well at the Ladies National Finals on Wednesday, October 31, while Kylie Peacock will represent the club at Masters’ Day on November 17 after placing sixth at Zone.
Orana Physical Culture was only started earlier this year, joining existing club Dubbo City as the demand for physie in the region grows.
“Physie’s motto is fun, fitness and friendship but we started our own club this year for a positive, safe environment and to promote a positive body image,” Hubbard said. “Definitely to make friends, to have fun dancing and a bit of fitness, but everyone is equal.”
In physie, everyone learns five different routines depending on their age group, with the age-appropriate choreography winning many parents over.
Each routine is also choreographed with particular muscles or parts of the brain in mind, to make it a very low impact and accessible form a exercise.
“We learn the routines at the start of the year,” Hubbard said. “You don’t have to compete if you don’t want to.”
