Thompson took 2-25 after the Cougars lost the toss and were sent out into the field.
He picked up the key wicket of Garry Ashford (46) but Jagatinder-Singh Gill made 34 to help Colts post 162.
Shawn Townsend (2/14) was the other multiple wicket-taker for CYMS.
Thompson opened the batting and got his side off to a strong start, with his half century having the Cougars right on track. When he fell for 56 CYMS White was seemingly in control at 4/112.
But some tight Colts bowling and wickets from Affan Sagri (2/19) and Nathan Ebsworth (2/25) got the men in red back in the game.
With one wicket in hand and one over left it was anyone’s game but captain Peter Hyde (16 not out) and youngster Josh Townsend (4 not out) got the Cougars home.
Trevor O’Malley and James Rootes controlled things at John McGrath 1 as Rugby Blue eased past South Dubbo Limes on Saturday.
O’Malley (2-2), Riley Chaseling (2/11), and Darcy Chewings (2/26) helped restrict Souths to 9-100 from 40 overs, with Rudy Peet’s 33 the top score.
Bryce O’Malley (6) fell early in the run chase but then Trevor O’Malley (50 not out) and Rootes (31 not out) guided Rugby Blue to a dominant nine-wicket win.
Ben Dunlop banged 87 for RSL-Colts Paramount at Lady Cutler 1 but it wasn’t enough to stop his side going down to Newtown Black.
Dunlop top-scored in his side’s total of 7/179, while Billy Murray took three wickets for the Black Tigers.
It seemed an imposing total but Newtown Black reached it with relative ease, Murray (60) capping off a fine game by leading the charge while Josh Battishall contributed 59 in a match-winning 99-run stand.
RSL-Colts Coolbaggies was the only side which won when batting first on Saturday but they were given a real scare by Macquarie.
Rupert Backus tonked a powerful 89 for the Coolbaggies but there were few other contributions in the total of 196.
Mark Scullard took 3/45 for the Blues, who gave the run chase a real shake but fell just 13 runs short of victory.
Brad Roberts top-scored with 60 in the chase while Tyson Deebank (3-23) and Jacob Coggan (2-34) did a fine job with the ball in the tight win.
Newtown White cruised past South Dubbo Lemons on Saturday, John Hausia’s three wickets and Tom Skinner’s 44 sealing a comfortable four-wicket win.
Hausia took 3-27 from his eight overs, his haul including the big wicket of John Byrne (67).
Byrne dominated his side’s total of 152, a total his side failed to defend.
Connor Dwarte (3/24) gave Souths a chance but Skinner helped hit hit his side to victory with more than 20 overs to spare.
Trent Jacobsen bagged four wickets for Newtown Gold on Saturday before teammate Brad Feeth hit a half century to seal a Tigers victory.
Jacobsen’s 4/23 from eight saw Rugby Red post just 144 at Lady Cutler South A and then Freeth made 50 in a convincing run chase effort.
