Communication, support and adapting to change are three things that Dubbo Golf Club Operations Manager, Laken Carrett, said are vital to the clubs success. For over a century the Dubbo Golf Club has provided a place for locals and visitors alike to play a round of golf, watch some amazing entertainment, host a function, or simply sit back, relax and catch up with friends.

It is this versatile nature and continuous focus on customers that has seen the Dubbo Golf Club take out the Rhino Award for Excellence in Customer Service. Laken said that the award was recognition of the efforts from everyone at the Club. “It is great reward for the hard work that the board, the team and the members, have put in over the past two years to recognise the full potential of the club and the golf course,” she said. “The award further highlights the capability of the business as it continues to grow towards the hosting of the 2020 Women’s NSW Open, an international tournament which will be attended by 140 of the world’s best golfers with many internationals”.
Growth is something the club has certainly witnessed over the past 12 months, with the team increasing from six staff and four full time contractors to 18 staff in total. The clubhouse and office staff work to ensure that everyone enjoys their time at the club, and the course team, having endured tough conditions in recent months without rain, continue working to ensure the course itself is maintained and improved.
Laken said that the changes the club has introduced has allowed them to continue offering customers and visitors the best experience possible. “Strong and consistent communication with the members has allowed the club to grow in a direction that the broader membership is comfortable with and support. The level of member support that management has received has been wonderful,” she said. “The board of directors have been instrumental in delivering the changes required to see the Club’s growth and improvements, and they continue to focus on customer service and product delivery as their key outcomes”.
The club is now focused on hosting the 2020 Women’s NSW Open along with providing a golf course that showcases Dubbo and the region and the enormous capability that the region offers.
