CWRU and Orange Emus stalwart Amanda Ferguson said she was hoping to have two pools of clubs taking part in the competition.
She said a fixture would be released next week, and it was looking like there would be an Eastern conference with teams from Orange, Bathurst and the surrounding region and a conference from teams “up around Dubbo”.
The competition will run on Friday nights through November, and Ferguson said a five week competition currently looking likely.
She said rugby 7s was an opportunity for women looking to get into rugby to take the plunge “without committing to a 10 or 15 week season”.
“It’s a good chance to get people who haven’t played, or who have played touch football or soccer into the game,” she said.
Ferguson said Emus would be forming a team, and said while numbers were good she still encouraged anyone who was interested in playing to come down to Endeavour Oval on Monday night.
Ferguson was unsure on which clubs had confirmed a side, but as well as Emus she said she’d seen Dubbo, Orange City and Bulldogs all searching for players for 7s online.
