Dubbo student Mali Hopkins-Davies has been recognised for her compassion, integrity and kindness with a Fred Hollows Humanity Award.

Mali was nominated for the award by her teacher Lisa Lunn.
After her brother died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Mali worked with her family to raise funds and awareness of the syndrome.
Mali has organized fundraisers, written newspaper articles and spearheaded our school’s Red Nose Day activities with passion and drive,” Ms Lunn said.
“She’s an amazingly driven and mature student; she’s shown integrity, passion and drive in a manner that is beyond her years.”

The Humanity Award is a national initiative of The Fred Hollows Foundation that acknowledges Year Six students who follow in Fred’s footsteps by demonstrating humanitarian values towards others. Seventy-nine students from across NSW were presented with awards.
Founding Director of the Foundation Gabi Hollows said the award highlighted aspirational students.
“Fred would have been incredibly proud of the contribution these students are making to society and of The Foundation for recognising and encouraging them to help others, no matter how big or small their actions,” she said.
