The 2018/19 cricket season may still be in its infancy but it’s fair to say things are going pretty well for Bailey Edmunds.

After a breakout season last summer, the hard-working fast bowler has started on the right foot since making the switch to CYMS.
He took a hat-trick in last weekend’s first game of the season and a busy few days now await.

Edmunds gets the amazing opportunity to take on some Australian greats on Friday night when he lines up for a Dubbo XI against an SCG XI at No. 1 Oval before playing for the Orana Outlaws in the weekend’s Plan B Regional Bash matches at Bathurst.
“I wasn’t really focusing on rep cricket coming into this season, I was more focused on the club perspective, but these rep selections are a great thing and it makes you want to keep going,” he said.
While the weekend will be a real test for Edmunds and the Orana Outlaws, Friday night’s game will be something completely different.
Edmunds and the Dubbo XI, captained by Mitch Bower, will take on a star-studded SCG XI in a match raising funds for the Buy A Bale drought relief campaign.
The Dubbo squad will also feature the likes of Corey McDean, Mat and Steve Skinner, and Thomas Nelson while the visitors squad is headlined by former Test players Stuart MacGill and Stuart Clark as well as Dubbo-born rugby league great Andrew Ryan.
“It will be a bit of fun and I watched Stuart Clark and Stuart MacGill play when I was younger and always really liked them and Glenn McGrath will be back here too,” he said.
“It will be a bit of a hit and giggle and raising funds for some good causes … it’s what we want to do, support the locals.”
Edmunds didn’t feature in Dubbo’s Western Zone Premier League side last Sunday, he was helping the city’s Brewery Shield team to an opening round win, and he admitted then being named in the Orana Outlaws squad was a shock.
“You get a chance to play on SCG (if you make the finals). That would be a lifelong dream to play there and it will be a good time if we make it there,” he said of taking part in the Plan B Regional Bash.
“It’s going to be a bit tougher than what I’m used to but it’s a challenge I’m looking forward to and I’ll knuckle down and do my thing for the team.”
The only negative to such a busy weekend is he misses out on playing for his new club side, CYMS.
His hat-trick made it a debut to remember last weekend but his side will be without him in the clash with Rugby.
“It was a bit of a shock when I was on the hat-trick ball on debut but I was lucky enough to pull it off,” Edmunds smiled.
“Being in the green (of CYMS) is good. There’s a good company and it’s a great bunch of boys.”
